Solutions Architect
Summary
This senior technologist is responsible for pre- and post-sales solutions architecture design including deployment architecture, integration design and development, and overall solution design. Using their broad technical knowledge, the architect is able to communicate, cultivate and drive technical decisions collaboratively with customers.
The Solutions Architect works closely with uControl management and our Customers to create and deploy technical solutions to business problems bringing to bear not only uControl technology but also any other tools and technology necessary. The Solutions Architect delivers the architectural design during the deployment project. As the lead technical contributor on a project, the Solutions Architect has oversight responsibility to ensure the correct technical decisions are being made during the delivery of the project, ensuring consistency with uControl's best practices.
The Solutions Architect reports to the Vice President, Customer Services.
Responsibilities
- Design technical solutions to business problems including defining integration requirements
- Cultivate and drive technical decisions with customers to design technical solutions
- Oversight of technical implementation for customer deployment projects
- Key member of the project delivery team
- Author customer architecture documentation
- uControl server software installation and configuration
- uControl firmware configuration
- Design and development of integration modules including integration with OSS/BSS systems
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement within the technical services organization
- Works with the customer to address issues and resolve problems both pre- and post-production Qualifications
- 10+ years of enterprise software engineering development
- 5-7 years telecommunications industry experience
- Awareness of technology trends in the telecommunications industry worldwide
- Extensive experience with all aspects of service provider operations including OSS/BSS, service provisioning, service assurance/customer care, field services, monitoring, reporting, and network architecture (core, last mile, in-home, etc.)
- Technical experience with new product introduction, end-to-end development, deployment, and management of hardware and software based telecommunications services from within a service provider or supplied to a service provider
- Java development experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Expert technical knowledge of the following areas:
- Home Security and Automation products
- Wired WAN access networks - xDSL, FTTx, PON, DOCSIS, dial-up, ATM, Ethernet
- Wireless WAN - GRPS, EDGE, 3G, WiMAX, LTE
- LAN - 10/100/1000 Base-T, 80211b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DECT, Femto Cell
- OS - Windows, Mac, Mobile OS (iPhone, Symbian, Windows Mobile)
- Other - Broadband Forum TR-069, TR-098, TR-104, TR-106, TR-111, TR-135, PD-128, WT-187, VoIP, QoS, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, DDNS, UPnP, HNAP, NAPT, DMZ, firewall, CE-HTML, ZigBee
- Home products and services - gaming consoles, network connected media devices and televisions, network attached printers, home backup, home security, home automation, home healthcare
- Work closely with the product team on new product requirements, integrations, and defect resolution
- Management of multiple simultaneous consulting engagements
Bachelor/Masters of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline. Masters of Business Administration preferred.
